Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat arrived in the Maldives for an official visit on Sunday. During Bipin Rawat’s visit, from 30 September to 3 October, the Chief of the Army Staff Delegation will complete the hierarchy of the Maldives government and its armed forces.
The visit is aimed at strengthening close bilateral defense relations between India and Maldives.
General Bipin Rawat is scheduled to meet Maldives President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih, Maldives Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi, Maldives Foreign Minister and head of Maldives National Defense Forces and Major General Abdullah Shahid.
The Republic of Maldives, owing to its centrality in the Indian Ocean region, has always held major importance for India.
India provides full support to enhance the capacity and capacity development of the Maldives Army as an equal partner. Military vehicles and military equipment will be exchanged to further strengthen defense relations.
